Hi everyone. We want to thank you all for following along with our groups progress. Last week we had prepared everything to be printed. Our plans were to print the filter assembly, at a reduced scale of 70% just to allow everything to fit within the time constraints set. The 4 pieces to be printed were our filter top, middle, bottom, and the filter gasket. These pieces were uploaded into Ultimaker Cura (a slicer software) and prepared for printing.
For week 8, we mainly worked on our final report and presentation. For the report, we wanted to provide a lot of detailed, technical information, and we did so by creating a report with 4 main sections.
The first section was an introduction to the project, detailing the reason behind on project. We also discussed some of the existing solutions, why we think they could be improved upon, and how we hope to improve those solutions.
In the second section, Technical Activities, we discussed the 3 stages that our project went through, from CAD to CAE to CAM. We discussed the unique challenges that each stage posed, the problems we encountered, and how we created our final solution.
In the 3rd section, results, we discussed our project as a whole, looking at how our prototype turned out. We discussed first our original design idea, and how that played into the final design that we currently have. We also discussed some of the flaws that we have in our design, which moves into the 4th section.
The 4th section was our discussion. We aimed to discuss what went well, what didn't, and what we want to improve for future iterations of the project. Some of the things that came up were worries about consistency of filters, and how that could be fixed, testing how long the mask lasts, testing the efficiency of the filters and finding better ways to fit the mask to a face.
We also created a final presentation, which you can watch here.
Thanks for joining us on this adventure!
