The project chosen, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and the high demand of medical supplies in our region, is to design our own face mask, that could meet industry quality standards, as well as providing more comfort, and the ability to be reused. The mask will have both printed parts, and purchased parts. The printed part of the mask will be the actual face-fitting form. We will purchase filters, and incorporate slots and ways to attach the filters inside the mask, so that it can be reusable, while still meeting the CDC guidelines of how many times a filter can be used. Additionally, we will purchase a velcro strap to attach to the mask, to allow it to fit behind the head, as well as be adjustable for different head sizes. Finally, we will print a seal for the mask, which will attach using a T-shaped slot on the edge of the mask, to allow for comfortable contact with the skin.
